This much loved nine hole heathland course is situated on the outskirts of Machynlleth, an historic market town in Mid Wales. Surrounded by attractive mountain scenery, there are splendid views from every part of the course.
Golf at Machynlleth, means golf in idyllic surroundings, with easy walking and an uncrowded course. In spring and early summer, the course is at its best with colour from the gorse and rhododendrons and the occasional red kite circling overhead.
The course is challenging, is a lot of fun to play and provides a good test of golf for players of all levels.
This year a new short course has been developed. The delightful new addition is made up three greens, each with three new tees. It is an ideal course for beginners and juniors to practice their skills. Fun for all the family.

Mother and Son Captains for 2009/2010
Something special is happening at Machynlleth Golf Club in 2009. It’s a family affair at the top, as mother and son, Joyce and Philip Harris are the new Captain and Lady Captain. Could this be a first for a club in Wales?
Philip Harris has been playing at Machynlleth since he was 10 years old, has held a handicap of 5 for many years and has twice been Club Champion. His mother, Joyce has already been Lady Captain twice. This time, however it’s special as she will be working with Philip, as Captain. Her husband, the late Ray Harris was Captain of the Club in 1971 and 1982.
The Captains Drive In was held on Saturday 28th March following the Annual General Meeting on the Friday evening. After watching the Captains drive off, twenty two members played in the annual Breese Goblet, in which the Captain’s Team played the Lady Captain’s Team. The Captain’s Team was victorious on this occasion. After the golf, everyone enjoyed a buffet in the clubhouse.
